FAQs
Which dressing aid is required for wearing latex swimwear, and should I use it if the item will get wet?
Silicone Lube is highly recommended, even for water use. Since swimwear is tight, silicone dressing aid (lube) is essential for putting it on over dry skin. While water can act as a lubricant, applying lube beforehand minimizes friction and stretching stress on seams, especially across the hips and bust, before the item gets fully submerged.
Can I wear my latex swimwear in chlorinated swimming pools or saltwater?
Minimize exposure to chlorine, and clean immediately after saltwater. Chlorine is highly corrosive to latex and will significantly decrease the garment's lifespan and shine. Saltwater is less damaging but must be thoroughly removed. If using a pool, keep the time short and cleanse the suit immediately after removal.
What special care is needed to protect latex swimwear from sun damage while wearing it outside?
Avoid direct, prolonged UV exposure and use a shiner/protectant. UV light (sunlight) rapidly degrades and yellows/clouds latex. When sunbathing, cover the latex or stay in the shade. Ensure the suit is treated with a silicone-based polish/shiner containing UV protection before going outside.
What is the most important step for cleaning and storing latex swimwear after use?
Immediate, thorough rinse and 100% dry storage. Immediately after wearing (especially in chlorine/salt), hand wash the suit in cool water with a dedicated latex cleaner. Crucially, ensure the item is completely dry (inside and out) before storing it flat in an opaque, sealed bag away from any light, heat, or ozone source.
